Impact Assessment and Responsible Development for Infrastructure, Business and Industry

What are the consequences to ecosystems, cultural heritage and human well-being -in the short and long run- of decisions taken by infrastructure developers, industry executives and managers, financial agents and business leaders? In a shared common world, common objectives should be identified for responsible development, in which each sector of the economy becomes aware of the effects of its decisions. At IAIA11, ideas and experiences on this theme will be shared by experts from around the globe, with the end result being a better collective knowledge about how to ensure a better future.

La Convención tiene como objetivo desarrollar un fluido y amplio intercambio de puntos de vista e ideas, sobre aspectos metodológicos, teóricos y prácticos asociados al medio ambiente y el desarrollo sostenible, con el propósito de encontrar mejores opciones para enfrentar y solucionar los problemas involucrados en este ámbito de estudio. La Convención es la reunión internacional tradicional más importante sobre Medio Ambiente que se celebra en Cuba. Está organizada en 5 congresos y 3 coloquios que abarcan diversos contenidos ambientales de actualidad: Cambio Climático, Educación Ambiental; Áreas Protegidas; Gestión Ambiental; Manejo de Ecosistemas y Biodiversidad, Derecho Ambiental, Ordenamiento Ambiental y Evaluación de Peligro, Vulnerabilidad y Riesgos.

The aim of the workshops is to identify, compile and analyze relevant indigenous and local observations, knowledge and practices related to understanding climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation. The workshops will provide a key opportunity to ensure that experience, sources of information and knowledge (scientific, indigenous and local), along with data and literature (scientific and grey), focusing on vulnerable and marginalized regions of the world are made available to the authors of the IPCC 5th Assessment Report and the global community.
